looking back: 2017
When 2017 began, we had no idea it would end this way; back in the UK, having sold our Eichler and our business. But that’s where we’re at. As per tradition, let’s end the year with a look back at some blog/Instagram highlights from the last twelve months. In January, we captured a fitting (yet rare) fog sighting…
Predictably, familiar blue sky soon returned, to frame our home…
We added more colour by painting one wall of our family room…
And Emily Henderson featured us on her popular reno blog…
In February, we enjoyed an aptly minimal Valentine’s Day cuppa…
And took a long overdue trip to Palm Springs, for Modernism Week…
March saw us add shelving to our music room, for vinyl display…
While ushering-in the sunny-but-not-too-hot weather…
And enjoying a happy Saint Paddy’s Day with Fog…
We also lent-out our home (to our friends, Andy and Melissa) for some filming…
And shared more sumptuous sights from Palm Springs…
In April, another welcome mention for us, in the Spring issue of CA Modern…
Plus a rare look at some British modernism, not far from where Karen grew up…
And a video guide to finding our front door (clue: it’s at the side)…
In May, we drooled over the x-100 (amongst other things) at the Highlands Eichler Home Tour…
Meeting lots of friends (hey Monique!) along the way…
In June, Fog became ill, so posting decreased, apart from the odd show-stopper…
In July, we took a trip down to LA, for some much needed R&R…
We also checked out the Venice canals…
And visited the Modernica store…
Plus Neutra’s VDL Studio and Residences…
In August, we said a painful goodbye to our beloved cat, Fog…
In September, we shared our empty Eichler and announced our move back home…
Our belongings finally arrived in November, and we shoe-horned them into our rental…
We also shared a familiar sight, with a twist, as our agaves began to bloom…
December brought snow, as we celebrated our 10-year anniversary, at our wedding venue…
We also got wind of another media mention for our old place…
And before we knew it, Christmas was upon us…
A crazy year, filled with ups and downs, ins and outs, and everything in between. I don’t think we’ll be posting regularly for a while, but do stick with us, and we’ll do our best to keep you updated. Anyway, thanks for following us in 2017. Happy new year! See you on the other side…

Hey John! Thanks for the encouragement. I’ve completely failed to post, despite planning to. Just so damn busy with work and life. Don’t think I appreciated just how good we had it in Sac. But I will post again – need to post at least once in 2018! Hope everything is good with you and Joan. We really miss you too. Look forward to visiting next year.
