project orange
I like orange as much as the next guy. More, actually, but Karen’s not so keen. So the huge wall of orange painted paneling that dominates our living space had to go…the orange paint, not the wall itself. It was painted pretty shoddily anyway, so I’m fully in favor.
So, what to do with the wall? We figured we’d get back to basics and paint the whole thing white. Actually, Karen figured we’d paint it white, and I couldn’t come up with a better suggestion. So, white it is…for now at least.
It took multiple coats to cover the orange mass. We also painted the garage door –it needs replacing, but for now a white-wash will do. This fresh coat makes the ‘white’ beams and ceiling (not to mention the kitchen) look rather beige. But this is all we’re painting today.
We’re pleased to have swapped orange for white. It’s a big improvement, and makes the room look brighter and cleaner; a welcome side-effect. Problem is, this vast wall now looks very bare. It’s crying out for some artwork. I’m on the case.
